Eligibility is post-specific. Engineering Officer candidates require the prescribed first-class B.E./B.Tech qualification and a valid relevant GATE score from 2024, 2025 or 2026. Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant positions require the relevant Diploma/B.Sc. qualification together with five years of relevant post-qualification experience. Technician Grade 1 requires the relevant ITI trade certificate. Technical Attendant Grade 1 requires Matriculation or equivalent, with a two-year Electrical or Mechanical ITI listed as desirable. Assistant Grade II requires a prescribed first-class bachelor's degree together with the specified NIELIT Basic Computer Course credential. MTS Grade 1 requires Matriculation or equivalent, and the 14 Watch & Ward vacancies are earmarked for eligible Ex-Servicemen.
The post-wise upper age limits are 30 years for Engineering Officer Grade 1, Technical Attendant Grade 1 and Assistant Grade II; 35 years for Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant; 28 years for Technician Grade 1; and 25 years for MTS Grade 1. The minimum age is 18 years. Age, educational qualification and related eligibility conditions are reckoned with reference to 12 October 2026, subject to applicable Government of India relaxation provisions.
The posts carry 7th CPC pay levels ranging from Level 1 to Level 7. Engineering Officer Grade 1 is in Level 7 (Rs. 44,900-1,42,400); Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant are in Level 6 (Rs. 35,400-1,12,400); Assistant Grade II is in Level 4 (Rs. 25,500-81,100); Technician Grade 1 is in Level 2 (Rs. 19,900-63,200); and Technical Attendant Grade 1 and MTS Grade 1 are in Level 1 (Rs. 18,000-56,900), along with admissible allowances and benefits under the applicable rules.
Selection is post-specific. Engineering Officer Grade 1 uses the notified GATE-score route. Other posts use the Computer Based Test and, where prescribed, a skill or trade test and subsequent verification stages. Candidates should follow the exact post-specific selection provisions in the official CPRI advertisement rather than assuming a common test pattern for every post.
The application fee is Rs. 1,000 per post for Engineering Officer Grade 1, Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant, and Rs. 700 per post for Technician Grade 1, Assistant Grade II and Technical Attendant Grade 1. SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and women candidates are exempt from the recruitment fee under the notified conditions.
