AIIMS Jammu Faculty Direct Recruitment 2026 - 76 advertised seats across 68 department-grade entries
Application is a two-step process, not online-only. This 14 October 2026 advertisement (Employment Notification 05/2026, AIIMS/JMU/Fac.Rect/2026/01) invites applications for permanent/regular Group-A faculty in Vijaypur, Jammu. Online submission ends 13 November 2026 at 17:00 IST, while the signed printout and specified self-attested supporting documents must reach the Registrar by 18 November. Merely creating an application on the web portal is insufficient. The hard-copy date is a delivery cutoff, not merely the date by which the envelope is posted. The interview date is not yet announced.
1. Vacancy arithmetic: categories, grades and distinct role profiles
There are 34 medical/academic departments, 68 separate department-by-grade post entries and 76 seats. A distinct posts[] entry in an import file means a unique grade+department profile, not necessarily only one vacant seat. Do not treat 68 as the seat count, or advertise 76 unrelated job titles. Grade allocations:
The official vertical categories reconcile as UR 24 + OBC 28 + SC 12 + ST 6 + EWS 6 = 76. These category counts are attached to every specific grade/department post in the vacancy dataset, not guessed from institute-wide percentages. 4% PwBD horizontal reservation applies within the vacancies and is not an additional block of jobs. The original notice describes the 40% benchmark disability threshold; it does not publish a separate precise PwBD headcount by every department.
Where multiple candidates can be selected under one profile: Biochemistry Assistant Professor has 3; General Surgery Professor 2 and Associate Professor 2; Microbiology Additional Professor 2 and Associate Professor 2; Pathology Additional Professor 2; Physiology Assistant Professor 2. Remaining profiles have 1 each. For applicants this matters more than merely knowing the aggregate 76: vacancy competition and reservation differ by the actual grade and specialty.
2. Why the same MBBS or DM degree does NOT imply the same experience rule
Annexure-I (pages 8-14) states the qualifying degree separately for each discipline. The current advertisement page 15 expressly says that Professor, Additional Professor and Associate Professor retain the same essential EDUCATION as the corresponding Assistant Professor discipline, but apply a DIFFERENT grade-based experience rule. The senior experience figures apply only to officially recognized specialty teaching/research after the qualifying degree; do not mistake total employment history for post-qualification experience.
These are conditional pathways, not a single minimum experience applicable to every applicant. For Assistant Professor in super-specialty a qualifying recognized 3/6-year course dispenses with the additional year; in contrast a recognized 2/5-year degree requires it. For senior super-specialties the actual page-15 clause gives 3-year-course figures; it does not explicitly extend those numbers to every different unlisted degree structure. A candidate with an unusual recognized training programme should obtain employer clarification before treating an apparently shorter route as automatically eligible.
Medical Oncology: current Annexure-I code 14 adds another academic gate: for a 2-/3-year DM, the applicant must also have recognized MD in Medicine OR Pediatrics (as specified). Pulmonary Medicine: code 30 similarly specifies recognized MD in Medicine for a 2-/3-year DM. These specific predecessor MD conditions should not be lost inside a generic DM requirement. Hospital Administration prints MD/MHA, which is not the same as permission for any MBA in hospital management.
Non-medical faculty routes are NOT universal. The 2026 original explicitly gives a medical route and an alternative non-medical MSc (subject-specific) PLUS PhD route in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Physiology. A general MSc without doctoral qualification does not satisfy this alternative. Other departments cannot be marked open to non-medical MSc/PhD applicants by extrapolating from these four. Every post JSON retains the corresponding original specialty clause.
3. DNB qualification and documentary equivalence are practical elimination points
The institute requires documentary proof of DNB equivalence for teaching under the NMC notification dated 14 February 2022. Where the DNB is issued by an institution with attached hospital or by a hospital with at least 500 beds, the notified equivalence is materially different from a DNB from other environments; the current ad says the latter may require an additional year of senior residency in a medical college for teaching equivalence. This is not an automatic blanket rejection of DNB; it is a documentary decision depending on the training institution and applicable NMC clause. Applicants claiming any qualification equivalent to a named MD/MS/DM/MCh should upload the order/letter with competent authority, date and reference.
Experience certificates must identify from/to dates, the teaching and/or research nature, be issued by the appropriate head of organisation and establish recognised department/institute status. Experience before the qualifying PG/doctorate is not simply added to the required period. The advertisement further says recognition of a medical teaching institution/course may begin in a particular year; experiences before the recognition period cannot be assumed acceptable.
4. Two submission cutoffs - what candidates should physically do
-
Select the exact department/post code and grade. A separate online application and fee are required for every additional post applied for, even when one applicant qualifies for multiple grades. Check education plus years by 13 November; qualifying later is disqualifying.
-
Submit the official AIIMS Jammu faculty registration/application by 13 November 2026, 5 PM IST; upload only specifically requested PDF/JPEG certificates in the stated upload fields. The institute advises 200-dpi greyscale and legible documents. Unrequested pay slips, resume/CV, appointment or relieving letters and unsigned experience certificates are specifically discouraged in the document-upload module.
-
Sign each page of the application printout, use the covering letter generated after online submission, enclose self-attested certificates and fee payment proof, and deliver by hand or post by 18 November 2026 to the Registrar, Academic Block, 6th Floor, AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu. The printed official document shows an apparent postcode inconsistency (header 181134; hard-copy address line 1841134); confirm postal PIN with the institute before dispatch instead of silently correcting it.
-
Originals are checked at interview. Annexure-II explicitly lists documents such as 10th/DOB, educational degrees, DNB/DM/MCh where applicable, subject/experience certificates, registration, caste/EWS/PwBD, fee receipt and NOC. For applicants employed regularly in government/autonomous bodies, NOC can be uploaded with the application OR produced at interview, but failing to produce it at interview bars participation.
-
Interview is in person at AIIMS Vijaypur. The Board Room on Academic Block 6th floor and 9:30 AM reporting time are published, but the exact interview date will be announced later. A written/screening test may be used to shortlist; it is not announced as compulsory for every applicant.
5. Fee burden, category certificate validity and refund trap
Fee per post is Rs 3,000 for General/OBC, Rs 2,400 for EWS, Rs 2,400 for SC/ST, and zero for PwBD, excluding bank charges. SC/ST fee is refundable only if the applicant appears for the interview for that particular post; it is not upfront fee exemption, and a skipped or unsuccessful screening does not by itself establish the stated attendance condition. Multiple applications require separate fee payments. Do not claim all reserved candidates pay zero.
The OBC-NCL proof must meet Central List / non-creamy layer conditions and the advertised 2026-27 certificate window 1 April to 13 November 2026. Where the current certificate is not yet available, the notice details a conditional route with an older certificate plus renewal acknowledgement and later valid production; this should not be mistaken for unconditional acceptance of any older OBC certificate. EWS certificate similarly has a prescribed format, family income reference to FY 2025-26 and issue-period rules. Merely having a state OBC document is insufficient for a centrally reserved OBC post.
Age cutoff is the online deadline 13 November 2026, normal maximum 50 years for all four grades. SC/ST five-year relaxation, OBC three-year, PwBD five-year, and regular Central Government service five-year relief are subject to the official conditions. Government-servant five years does NOT automatically extend to employees of autonomous institutions, state governments or PSUs. SC/ST/OBC concessions are unavailable when a candidate competes on an UR post on merit; PwBD concession is described separately. The institute may exercise discretion to relax experience up to one year for SC/ST; this is NOT a guaranteed entitlement or permission to replace degree qualification.
6. Salary and terms: basic pay is not take-home
Professor Level 14-A: Rs 168,900-220,400; Additional Professor Level 13-A2+: Rs 148,200-211,400; Associate Professor Level 13-A-1+: Rs 138,300-209,200; Assistant Professor Level 12: Rs 101,500-167,400 (7th CPC basic pay scales). Eligible usual allowances / NPA are conditional; HRA depends on the relevant conditions and accommodation. Do not present the upper pay-matrix endpoint as the starting salary, or promise a single fixed in-hand figure. The notice announces two-year probation, generally 30-day joining time after offer and restrictions on private practice.
7. What changed from the prior AIIMS Jammu faculty cycle?
AIIMS Jammu’s separately advertised Employment Notification 14/2025 had 80 vacancies in its published grade totals (Professor 24, Additional Professor 15, Associate Professor 18, Assistant Professor 23). The current 05/2026 has 76 (27/15/16/18). This is a comparison of two separate advertisement vacancy tables, NOT evidence that four appointments were cancelled or that current 2026 categories must inherit the 2025 list. In particular, Professor vacancies are 27 now (versus 24 then) while Assistant Professor seats are 18 now (versus 23 then). Use current post codes and category distribution, not a 2025 old PDF or import slug. The 2025 cycle already included a 50-year general maximum age; do not misreport it as a newly reduced 2026 age rule.
8. How to decide whether to apply
First filter your actual degree route against the specific subject, then qualifying-date recognition, then experience after that degree, then reservation/document validity. For example, a recognized 3-year DM holder for an Assistant Professor super-specialty should not be wrongly excluded for lacking an additional one-year teaching certificate; a two-year DM holder should not be admitted automatically without it. A subject MSc+PhD candidate can check only the disciplines that explicitly list that non-medical alternative. A candidate applying against OBC must check both central-list identity and certificate issue dates. A candidate able to submit the online form but unable to deliver the physical dossier by 18 November should treat that as a serious independent failure point. Finally, apply separately for each grade or department for which you wish to be considered.
