AIIMS Bhubaneswar MoES Project Associate I Recruitment 2026 — Marine Bivalves, Essential PG and 11-Month Contract
A fresh round of the same MoES research project, not the old January recruitment
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has announced one Project Associate I position in Dr Amit Ghosh's Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) study on marine-bivalve-derived anti-platelet and anti-inflammatory compounds. The current notice uses E-File PHYSIO/19/2025-PHYSIO DEPT and appears on the institute's 13 October 2026 recruitment listing. It accepts applications by email up to 31 October 2026, 5:00 PM IST; 3 November 2026 is a tentative interview date, not the application deadline. The signed current PDF is the governing source, not an old notice using the same e-file number.
A particularly important comparison is available from the institute itself. The 30 December 2025 advertisement of this same MoES project recruited Project Associate I and Laboratory/Field Assistant (one each), closed on 7 January 2026 and listed 21 months for the Associate. The new October 2026 advertisement names Project Associate I alone (one seat) with 11 months. Therefore the older Laboratory/Field Assistant seat does not belong in this new recruitment, and nobody should transfer its age, degree or work conditions here. A shared e-file/project title does not mean the two application rounds can be merged or that the 2025 positions remain open.
Qualification: a relevant Master's is essential; NET/GATE and techniques are desirable
The present entry route is Master's degree in Natural Sciences, Life Sciences or a related discipline from a recognised university, or equivalent. The PDF does not impose a minimum graduation percentage, a compulsory PhD, an explicit minimum year of previous employment or mandatory NET/GATE. That matters because the column headed Desirable Qualifications separately lists extraction, isolation and purification of bioactive molecules, solvent extraction and column chromatography/TLC/HPLC, cell-based bioactivity assays, and CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship), GATE or specified centrally conducted national-level selection examinations. These desirable factors can strengthen an application, but they must not be promoted to universal mandatory eligibility criteria.
The historical contrast is more informative than a generic 'MSc eligible' headline. In the 2025 original round, the Associate's specifically preferred laboratory experience involved cell culture, flow cytometry, cell-based assays and immunohistochemistry, and the old notice named minimum one-year prior experience under desirable, not essential. The October 2026 list points specifically to marine natural-product extraction and chromatographic isolation while retaining national examination credentials under desirable qualifications. Candidates should describe their actual, documentable techniques in the prescribed application, rather than assume the project's scientific aim automatically makes all listed techniques compulsory duties. 'Related discipline' and 'equivalent' are employer-interpreted terms: when degree nomenclature differs materially, seek written confirmation rather than claim guaranteed equivalence.
Contract pay: Rs 37,200 is the advertised monthly total, not basic plus another HRA
The current advertisement states Rs 31,000 plus 20% HRA = Rs 37,200 consolidated per month. The 20% HRA is already reflected in the displayed Rs 37,200 total; adding another 20% to Rs 37,200 double counts it. This is a temporary project remuneration and not an AIIMS regular pay-matrix position, nor evidence of a guaranteed net/in-hand amount. The notice does not separately promise PF, pension, LTC or medical reimbursement; in fact its general terms exclude PF, pension scheme, LTC and medical claim for these contractual appointees. The new 11-month initial tenure is also shorter than the 21-month period of the historical December 2025 advertisement. Any extension requires project need, performance evaluation and competent-authority approval; no renewal is guaranteed.
Email first: 31 October cutoff; 3 November is only the tentative interview
The correct submission address, taken from the institute's current official PDF, is physio_amit@aiimsbhubaneswar.edu.in. Fill the prescribed application form supplied within the seven-page current PDF, including qualification and experience chronology, referees, declarations and signature as appropriate. The institute prescribes the email subject “Application for the post of Project Associate- I”. Send in the stipulated format so that the application reaches the stated mailbox before 17:00 IST on 31 October 2026. A different file format, incomplete form, or an emailed message arriving after the deadline creates a rejection risk. Preserve the sent email and attachment copy; an auto-acknowledgment or selection is not promised. There is no need to send a physical hard copy at this stage. The source does not announce a separate online portal or an application fee, so do not infer an official zero-fee declaration or redirect candidates to an unofficial form.
The current PDF calls the 3 November 2026 walk-in/video-conference interview tentative. Shortlisted candidates are to be called for interview/personal discussion, with mode and logistics determined by the institute. This is not a guaranteed reporting slot for every applicant; no confirmed reporting time, exam pattern, cutoff marks or published interview venue beyond the institute context should be invented. Keep checking the official AIIMS Bhubaneswar recruitment list for any changes.
Age cutoff is the interview date, not the email cutoff
Maximum age is 35 years. The institute explicitly defines the age cutoff as the date of walk-in interview / video-conferencing interview. Because the date presently given is tentative, the structured age_rule.reference_date is intentionally left null; it would be unsafe to treat the application closing date of 31 October as the legal age-reference date or to promise an exact birth-date boundary. Official government-rule age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD is mentioned without a numeric schedule in this notice; applicants should rely on the employer's applicable rules and supporting documents instead of fabricated category-specific year counts.
Employer-service bar, documents and resignation consequence
One material restriction is stated unusually clearly: persons already in regular time-scale service under a Government department/organisation are not eligible to apply. This is not a generic NOC-only instruction. Employment status should be examined before applying, and a candidate should not assume that obtaining an NOC overrides this published exclusion. At interview/joining, be ready with original academic/experience/age evidence, photo identity, passport photo and a set of self-attested copies, plus category/disability certificate where applicable. Experience, whenever relied on, should be in the relevant area and count from after the essential qualification; a candidate with no proven prior experience should not be incorrectly rejected solely because the desirable skill list is long.
The contract terms permit termination by a month's notice and discuss a payment equivalent to one month's contractual amount, but also state the appointee will not be allowed to replace the unexpired notice obligation by surrendering the amount and must serve the full notice. This wording merits checking with the appointing authority before assuming there is an automatic buyout option for an employee. No automatic regular absorption, new project placement, government benefits or permanent AIIMS post follows from this appointment.
A quick candidate decision guide
Potentially suitable: a recognised relevant science/life-sciences Master's holder who is available for an 11-month temporary contract, can provide the prescribed email application on time and can credibly explain biochemical/natural-product lab methods. Not automatically excluded: a qualifying Master's holder without NET/GATE or without one year's lab employment, because the new advertisement places techniques and national examinations under desirable, and does not specify a compulsory minimum experience duration. Do not presume eligibility: holders of unrelated PG degrees claiming 'equivalent' without institutional confirmation, candidates already in government regular time-scale service, or anyone above the applicable age limit after the institute's age-cutoff decision. Scientific project goals describe the research context, not an officially guaranteed daily duty roster or syllabus.
Primary official documents and how to use them
Before submitting, recheck for a newly published institutional corrigendum; the current PDF does not fix a separate application start date or an unconditional interview date.
